Hi folks, sorry to bring this bit of bad news but for legal reasons (basically being threatened by lawyers regarding the sample) :-/

we can no longer release the remixes and may have to remove the original from sites.

This has come as a shock as we feel its one of Future Funk Squad’s most innovative pieces of work to date and that all you remixers did such a great job!!

If anything new develops we will keep you posted here but for now and the near future the remixes will not be available and the original may be removed from all digital and physical stores

Where very excited about this remix series!!! Its something that we have planned for quite a while and I know it may seem that everyone is doing it now and to be honest, they are! but it does make sense as long as the mixes are pretty special and dont take away the greatness of the originals.

The first two mixes to be release certainly dont do that, if anything they take them to the next level.

First up if the man of the moment Rob Reng who seems to be doing quite a bit of damage. He takes on Kraymon’s ‘Who Wants some?’ and boy does he twist it about in his true big bassline fashion!!

Next up is the awesome Dan F taking charge of D-Pimps classic ‘Frequency’. He strips it back and adds his classic sound design textures to bring together a rather special piece of work indeed.

“I wanna say a massive thanks to all the people that took part in this comp! I know the Mothership is a rather odd track and wasnt really gonna be an easy track to remix although I did think there were a few fun parts in there for you all to play around with. I am also really impressed with the winner DJ Gordon who turned in a rather jackin interpretation of the track and definately took it into a new arena! alot of the mixes that came in were breakbeat and dont get me wrong that is initially what I intended but then a few more 4/4 mixes started and arriving and I began to hear how the elements from the original worked well in this context!

Overall all the mixes have been really good quality and it was difficult selecting the winner from the 108 mixes that were submitted!

So again, a massive thanks for me and look out for the two runner up mixes that will feature on the download of the FFS release too ;-)”
